Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar was born on 24 April 1973 is an Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. He is the leading run-scorer and century maker in Test and One Day International cricket. He is the only player to score a first double century in the history of ODI cricket. In 2002, just 12 years into his career Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, behind Donald Bradman, and the second greatest one day international (ODI) batsman of all time, behind Viv Richards.n September 2007, the Australian leg spinner Shane Warne rated Tendulkar as the greatest player he has played with or against.Tendulkar was the only player of the current generation to be included in Bradman's Eleven. He is sometimes referred to as Little Master or Master Blaster.

Tendulkar is the first player to score fifty centuries in all international cricket combined, he now has 100 centuries in international cricket. On 17 October 2008, when he surpassed Brian Lara's record for the most runs scored in Test Cricket, he also became the first batsman to score 12,000 runs in that form of the game, having also been the third batsman and first Indian to pass 11,000 runs in Test cricket. He was also the first player to score 10,000 runs in one-day internationals, and also the first player to cross every subsequent 1000-run mark that has been crossed in ODI cricket history and 200 runs in a one-day international match. In the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Tendulkar surpassed Australia's Allan Border to become the player to cross the 50-run mark the most number of times in Test cricket history, and also the second ever player to score 10 Test centuries against Australia, after only Sir Jack Hobbs of England more than 70 years previously.Tendulkar scored 33,474 runs in international cricket till date, and has been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan award, India's second highest civilian award, and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, India's highest sporting honour. And now he is elected as Rajya Sabha MP this year….

Wankhede Stadium holds Master statue

During the last managing committee meeting on May 28, some members of the association had suggested having a Sachin Tendulkar replica to commemorate the batting legend’s 100 international centuries in March this year. “It is a very big achievement for all, especially Mumbaikars. So, this would be an ideal way to recognise his monumental feat. Wankhede is his home ground and we need to do something special,” said a source.

The source said the idea was inspired by Sir Don Bradman’s statue outside the Adelaide Oval. “Sir Don is Australia and Adelaide’s pride. Similarly, Sachin is India and Mumbai’s jewel. At the moment, we just have a stand named after the legendary batsman, which is not enough,” added the source.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground has statues of legendary Australian cricketers like Bradman, Shane Warne, Dennis Lillee and Keith Miller.

However, some in the MCA are not convinced with the idea. The reason is lack of space. “There is already a huge space crunch at the Wankhede Stadium during matches. So, erecting a statue is not practically feasible.

“Another reason is the statue may get damaged in crowd frenzy,” said another source.

MCA has already announced that it would felicitate Tendulkar with 100 gold coins, which would cost approximately Rs 28 lakhs.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) felicitated the master batsman with 100 gold coins, and a golden bat and ball during Mumbai Indians’ match against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League-V at the Eden Gardens last month.

Sachin Tendulkar and His Inscrutable Reputation

This post is just a remainder for all the people to know the greatness of Sachin the Cricketer and SAchin the Man

Obession is always the negative word. Its generally defined as a persistent idea associated with mental illness. But in India the obsession with the Legend , the god of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar has attained such high levels. This preoccupation with the idea of an invincible batsmen, hope to the pride of his nation, has become a part of the very being, of almost every Indian. From the day, at the age of 16, after being hit on the nose by steaming Waqar in the Sialkot Test match, striking the very next ball for four, to winning the world cup at his home ground, materializing his lifetime dream, his cricketing journey.
Gideon Haigh, an Australian journalist and cricket writer wrote with respect to Sachin that his feat has been not only to succeed but also not to fail. This is where I start to wonder. In what sense, has Sachin Tendulkar never failed? Despite his extra-ordinary potential and caliber, there are many statistical cricketing feats which he has failed to achieve. He has never scored a Triple century in any form of cricket, does not have a century in every Test Playing country, has never scored a century at Lords, the most coveted of all cricket grounds, he has a dismal record as a captain. Although, he unflinchingly, carried on his shoulders, the burden of the aspirations of a nation, during different downhill phases in his life, media and critics have many a times written him off, called him “Endulkar”, accused him of not scoring when it mattered most, not being a match winner to the extent that some have argued that the final match of the last World Cup was also the final nail in the Myth of Sachin being an indispensible part of a winning Indian side and there is also a theory doing rounds that if Sachin scores a century in any form of cricket, his team loses (remember the recent T20 match against Kochi in which Sachin scored his maiden century). Despite all this, the remarkable fact is that while most of the celebrated spots stars have not been able to re-capture the imagination of their fans after suffering a few setbacks, Sachin has remained the heart throb of this Cricket Crazy country. Then, the question to be asked is; what makes him the most celebrated, loved, idolized and worshipped player in the history of the game? Is it just his batting brilliance or something beyond it?
